Software Engineer supporting Defence and Security domains at Boeing in the UK. Responsible for software development and collaborating across various engineering teams.
Responsibilities
Designing, developing, testing, and maintaining non-embedded software throughout the end-to-end lifecycle that meets industry, customer, safety, and regulation standards for Defence programmes
Reviewing, analyzing, and translating customer requirements into initial design of software products
Developing, documenting and maintaining architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software products
Debugging and resolving issues identified to ensure the reliability and efficiency of software products
Handling user inquiries, troubleshooting technical issues and user feedback analysis
Implementing current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks and changes in regulations relevant to software development
Developing, establishing, monitoring and improving software processes, tools and key performance metrics that align projects with organizational goals and industry benchmarks
Performing software project management activities and software supplier management functions
Providing feedback to junior developers through code reviews and helping guide them in best practices with well documented code and development processes
Working collaboratively with other engineers, specialists and cross functional teams to achieve a sustainable outcome
Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
Ability to obtain security clearance
Level 3 (Experienced): 5+ years of experience working as a Software Developer or a similar role
5+ years of Experience across Software Development Lifecycle and Software standards such as ISO9001.
Experience in developing and applying continuous improvement to process and productivity for Software
Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Java, JavaScript, Python, C#, .Net, XAML).
Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) and software design principles.
Understanding of Microsoft WPF and MVVM design patterns.
Experience with databases (SQL, NoSQL) and API integrations.
Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
Experience with front-end frameworks.
Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
Familiarity with DevOps, Automation and CICD concepts.
Understanding of testing frameworks and unit testing practices.
Level 4 (Senior Software Engineer) 10+ years of experience working as a Software Developer or a similar role
10+ years of Experience across Software Development Lifecycle and Software standards such as ISO9001.
8-10 years of experience in developing and applying continuous improvement to process and productivity for Software
Proven leadership and management skills with the ability to develop, communicate and inspire staff.
Knowledge of customer behaviours, needs and expectations.
Ability to lead a team/discipline to quickly resolve complex problems
Ability to build and maintain broad network of business relationships
Good understanding of current and emerging technologies and how other enterprises are employing them to drive digital business support.
