About the role

  • Software Engineer supporting Defence and Security domains at Boeing in the UK. Responsible for software development and collaborating across various engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, developing, testing, and maintaining non-embedded software throughout the end-to-end lifecycle that meets industry, customer, safety, and regulation standards for Defence programmes
  • Reviewing, analyzing, and translating customer requirements into initial design of software products
  • Developing, documenting and maintaining architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software products
  • Debugging and resolving issues identified to ensure the reliability and efficiency of software products
  • Handling user inquiries, troubleshooting technical issues and user feedback analysis
  • Implementing current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks and changes in regulations relevant to software development
  • Developing, establishing, monitoring and improving software processes, tools and key performance metrics that align projects with organizational goals and industry benchmarks
  • Performing software project management activities and software supplier management functions
  • Providing feedback to junior developers through code reviews and helping guide them in best practices with well documented code and development processes
  • Working collaboratively with other engineers, specialists and cross functional teams to achieve a sustainable outcome

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • Ability to obtain security clearance
  • Level 3 (Experienced): 5+ years of experience working as a Software Developer or a similar role
  • 5+ years of Experience across Software Development Lifecycle and Software standards such as ISO9001.
  • Experience in developing and applying continuous improvement to process and productivity for Software
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Java, JavaScript, Python, C#, .Net, XAML).
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) and software design principles.
  • Understanding of Microsoft WPF and MVVM design patterns.
  • Experience with databases (SQL, NoSQL) and API integrations.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Experience with front-end frameworks.
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with DevOps, Automation and CICD concepts.
  • Understanding of testing frameworks and unit testing practices.
  • Level 4 (Senior Software Engineer) 10+ years of experience working as a Software Developer or a similar role
  • 10+ years of Experience across Software Development Lifecycle and Software standards such as ISO9001.
  • 8-10 years of experience in developing and applying continuous improvement to process and productivity for Software
  • Proven leadership and management skills with the ability to develop, communicate and inspire staff.
  • Knowledge of customer behaviours, needs and expectations.
  • Ability to lead a team/discipline to quickly resolve complex problems
  • Ability to build and maintain broad network of business relationships
  • Good understanding of current and emerging technologies and how other enterprises are employing them to drive digital business support.
