About the role
- Intern assisting in the development of AI tools for validating crash simulations at BMW Group. Collaborating in creating methods for airbag deployment analysis and machine learning.
Responsibilities
- You will support the development of AI-assisted tools for the validation of frontal restraint simulations.
- You will also contribute to the design and implementation of a method for airbag deployment analysis from crash videos using AI.
- Furthermore, you will assist in the development, training, and evaluation of machine learning and computer vision models.
- You will support the integration of in-house algorithms into existing validation workflows and tools.
- You will contribute to the analysis and visualization of results and to deriving evaluation metrics in a coordinated manner.
- You will develop ideas for new AI evaluation methods and tools and implement them as prototypes, receiving regular feedback from your point of contact.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a degree program in Computer Science, Data Science, Computational Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a comparable field.
- Strong programming skills, particularly in Python.
- Solid knowledge of machine learning and computer vision.
- Basic knowledge of finite element methods and explicit crash simulations (e.g., LS-DYNA) is an advantage.
- Team and communication skills as well as a structured working approach.
- Confident English and good German skills, both written and spoken.
