About the role

  • Apprentice Engineering Consultant driving innovative projects in the maritime defence sector. Gaining hands-on experience while pursuing an HNC in Electronic Engineering and a degree in Project Management.

Responsibilities

  • As a Mission and Complex Systems Engineering Apprentice, you will play a pivotal role in driving cutting-edge, innovative projects within the maritime defence sector.
  • Act as a consultant, applying your expertise to solve complex engineering challenges while supporting and contributing to high-impact project deliverables.
  • Embark on a journey of continuous professional development, earning an HNC in Electronic Engineering and a degree in Project Management.
  • This role will include both technical and administrative support tasks, enabling you to directly contribute to the successful execution of projects and deliver effective outputs.
  • When you are not on campus studying, you will apply your growing knowledge to provide critical support in both technical advice and project control. Ensuring efficiency within projects and meeting high standards.

Requirements

  • A-levels at a minimum of BCC (STEM subject must be at grade B minimum, Maths or Physics is preferable due to mathematical demand in HNC)
  • An ambition to work in, and contribute to, the UK Defence domain.
  • A keen focus on providing first-class service to our customers.
  • The determination to further their career and develop their skills with an aim to gain Chartered engineer status or other professional qualifications.
  • Excellent written communication.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Handle high workload and manage their time wisely, in a mature manner.
  • Will be self-starting and self-driven - looks for what to do next and plans accordingly.
  • Be passionate about Science, Technology, Engineering and problem-solving, whilst being able to communicate this well with others.
  • Be trustworthy and respectful, working with integrity.
  • Think innovatively about problems, able to think imaginatively and work with agility.
  • Strong and confident communication qualities.
  • Work collaboratively with the interpersonal skills to engage with customers, stakeholders, and end users, whether face to face or remotely.
