- Senior Azure MSSQL DBA managing and optimizing SQL Server environments hosted on Azure. Focused on database performance, security, and collaborating with DevOps teams for CI/CD.
Responsibilities
- Manage, optimize, and support SQL Server environments hosted on Azure
- Design, implement, and maintain Azure SQL Database, SQL Managed Instances, and SQL Server on Azure VMs
- Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, and index management
- Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and backup strategies using tools like Always On, Geo-replication, and Azure Backup
- Monitor and troubleshoot database issues using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and SQL Profiler
- Automate routine tasks using PowerShell, T-SQL, or Azure Automation
- Collaborate with development teams to support DevOps pipelines and CI/CD for database deployments
- Implement and enforce database security, auditing, and compliance policies
- Participate in capacity planning, cost optimization, and resource governance in Azure
- Document database environments, configurations, and standard operating procedures
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA
- At least 2 years in Azure SQL
- Strong knowledge of SQL Server 2016+
- Hands-on experience with Azure SQL Database, Managed Instance
- Proficiency in performance tuning, execution plans, and index strategies
- Experience with HA/DR solutions like Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, and Log Shipping
- Knowledge of ITIL processes, Agile methodologies, and DevOps practices
- Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills
