Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Software Development Engineers delivering clinical trial data capture solutions
- Design, develop, deploy, and maintain software applications aligned with study specifications and regulatory standards
- Oversee build and deployment of test and production databases
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Quality, Design, Translations, and Project Management teams
- Participate in architectural decisions and the full software development lifecycle
- Manage complex, customized client implementations
- Ensure operational readiness including pilot projects, internal validation, and experimental development initiatives
- Maintain coding standards and best practices within a regulated environment (ISO, FDA, 21 CFR Part 11)
- Conduct peer code reviews across varying complexity levels
- Act as a technical subject matter expert within the codebase and system architecture
- Investigate and resolve high-impact technical production issues
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives (tools, automation, process optimization, Kaizen)
- Communicate project timelines, scope, risks, and technical decisions clearly to stakeholders
- Support documentation and compliance requirements including SWIs and validation documentation
- Manage resource planning and ensure team productivity and delivery excellence
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 5–7+ years of professional software development experience
- Prior experience in a regulated environment (e.g., ISO 9001, FDA 21 CFR Part 11)
- Strong expertise in one or more of the following technologies: .NET, C#, Java, C++, iOS, Android
- Experience with web technologies including JavaScript (ES6), asynchronous programming, CSS, XML, JSON
- Strong working knowledge of SQL and relational databases
- Experience with version control and issue tracking tools (GitLab, TFS, JIRA, Visual Studio, Eclipse)
- Experience working within Agile, SCRUM, Kanban, or Waterfall methodologies
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing engineers or leading technical initiatives
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
