About the role

  • Principal Platform Engineer at FanDuel focusing on scalable infrastructure and developer-friendly platform capabilities. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure operational efficiency and resilience.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and implementing platform features and infrastructure that support the scalability, security, and reliability of our systems.
  • Building reusable, self-service components that abstract complexity and improve developer productivity.
  • Writing high-quality, maintainable code and applying infrastructure-as-code principles for repeatable, auditable changes.
  • Partnering with product, security, and operations teams to align on requirements and ensure solutions meet evolving business and technical needs.
  • Participating in design and architecture discussions to ensure platform scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
  • Supporting incident response and contributing to post-incident reviews and platform reliability improvements.
  • Driving adoption of best practices in automation, observability, and secure-by-default infrastructure design.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to a culture of learning, collaboration, and technical excellence.
  • Taking part in a shared on-call rotation, supporting platform services and contributing to incident resolution and reliability improvements.

Requirements

  • Significant hands-on experience in platform engineering, SRE, infrastructure, or DevOps roles.
  • Proficiency with Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure (AWS), containerization, IaC ( e.g. Terraform) and configuration management ( e.g. Ansible).
  • A strong background in system design, distributed systems, and software engineering principles.
  • Experience building internal platform capabilities such as deployment systems, monitoring/observability tooling, or infrastructure automation.
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD principles, pipeline design, and operational best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complexity and make sound technical decisions.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work across teams and disciplines.
  • A mindset of ownership and continuous improvement, with a passion for creating scalable and developer-friendly systems.
