About the role

  • Financial Accounts Assistant supporting statutory reporting and compliance at BSU. Involves balance sheet management and treasury reporting focusing on financial audits and asset records.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Financial Accountant with statutory reporting, taxation compliance and treasury functions
  • Help maintain a robust balance sheet control environment, particularly focusing on Fixed Asset and Treasury Reporting
  • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Support internal management reporting
  • Prepare daily and monthly cash and treasury reports
  • Maintain fixed asset records and reporting
  • Assist with Corporation Tax and quarterly VAT returns
  • Support the administration of the University’s insurance arrangements
  • Contribute to the ongoing review and improvement of financial processes.

Requirements

  • Studying towards or holding AAT or equivalent qualification
  • Ability to work accurately to tight deadlines
  • Good team player
  • Previous experience of working in a university
  • Advanced excel knowledge – pivot tables etc
  • Experience of month end and year end reconciliations
  • Experience of financial audits
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Familiarity with Fixed Assets
