Responsibilities
Influence complex engineering challenges and drive safety and reliability across operations.
Take a leading role in ensuring the integrity and performance of critical mechanical handling systems and equipment.
Provide technical expertise across design, configuration, and asset management.
Support projects that are vital to national security.
Maintain existing systems to deliver innovative design solutions.
Manage and maintain the design intent of mechanical handling systems and equipment.
Review maintenance regimes, specify replacement components, and support permanent modifications.
Lead design consultancy projects for new or modified crane and lifting systems.
Prepare asset health reports, conduct condition surveys, and support fault diagnosis.
Apply design and safety processes across the full lifecycle, from concept to commissioning.
Requirements
Knowledge of the design process and evidence of designing and substantiating systems and components.
Extensive understanding of regulations, legislation, and standards for mechanical handling equipment.
Proficiency in producing and interpreting hand calculations and FEA.
Ability to read and produce electrical/mechanical engineering drawings.
Knowledge of cranes, crane safety, and associated mechanical handling systems.
Degree in Mechanical Engineering (minimum requirement).
Professional registration - Desirable.
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
