Responsibilities
- Influence complex engineering challenges and drive safety and reliability across operations.
- Take a leading role in ensuring the integrity and performance of critical mechanical handling systems and equipment.
- Provide technical expertise across design, configuration, and asset management.
- Support projects that are vital to national security.
- Maintain existing systems to deliver innovative design solutions.
- Manage and maintain the design intent of mechanical handling systems and equipment.
- Review maintenance regimes, specify replacement components, and support permanent modifications.
- Lead design consultancy projects for new or modified crane and lifting systems.
- Prepare asset health reports, conduct condition surveys, and support fault diagnosis.
- Apply design and safety processes across the full lifecycle, from concept to commissioning.
Requirements
- Knowledge of the design process and evidence of designing and substantiating systems and components.
- Extensive understanding of regulations, legislation, and standards for mechanical handling equipment.
- Proficiency in producing and interpreting hand calculations and FEA.
- Ability to read and produce electrical/mechanical engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of cranes, crane safety, and associated mechanical handling systems.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (minimum requirement).
- Professional registration - Desirable.
- The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
