Responsibilities
Determine global and local loads using classification society rules and regulations.
Calculate scantlings and hull girder strength for naval vessels.
Design and substantiate equipment seatings and foundations to meet military and commercial requirements.
Prepare and check specifications, technical reports, and substantiation calculations.
Liaise with design teams, production teams, classification societies, and other stakeholders.
Requirements
Proven experience in the marine industry, with classification society plan appraisal experience advantageous.
Strong understanding of naval architecture principles and structural design.
Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
Degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering (HND/HNC with extensive experience considered).
Membership of a relevant institution (e.g., RINA, IMarEst) and either Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
