Responsibilities

• Lead complex mechanical systems engineering at the heart of the UK’s defence infrastructure
• Maintain and control modifications to mechanical building services across nuclear and non-nuclear facilities
• Shape engineering solutions that underpin national defence
• Ensure compliance with nuclear site licence conditions, regulatory frameworks, and industry design standards
• Collaborate with specialists across engineering disciplines
• Influence project delivery from concept to completion
• Support design reviews to ensure subcontractor designs meet standards
• Manage technical documentation and engineering drawings.

Requirements

• Familiarity with energy reduction strategies and decarbonisation for buildings
• Extensive understanding of mechanical engineering principles
• Detailed knowledge and experience of BREEAM, DREAM and Building Regulations
• Experience within a design consultancy or contractor design environment
• Ability to manage a small team of engineers
• Strong understanding of applicable regulations and technical standards related to mechanical services system design.
• Degree-level qualification (Level 7) in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering, or lower-level with significant experience
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
• Additional mechanical systems, nuclear or building-services-related professional training - Desirable
• Security Clearance required for this role.
