About the role

  • Strategic Planning Specialist for Atlantic Nickel, focusing on long-term mining project planning. Ensure project strategies align with operational decisions and stakeholder communication.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate long-term strategic planning (+1 year) with tactical and operational decisions for underground and surface mining operations, ensuring the development of robust, consistent, and communicable trends to support decision-making and alignment between technical and executive stakeholders;
  • Manage and update the project master schedule in Primavera P6, ensuring its integrity, logic, and adherence to planning best practices;
  • Consolidate physical progress and replanning information originating from short- and mid-term plans (lookahead, weekly/monthly plans), from both mine development planning and infrastructure works planning;
  • Assess impacts of operational and construction deviations on long-term planning, identify risks to the strategic schedule through critical path analysis, and propose mitigation actions for significant deviations;
  • Ensure consistency across planning for the asset’s different fronts: underground mining, open pit, surface works, processing plant, tailings dams and associated infrastructure, ensuring the project aligns with business objectives and project milestones;
  • Monitor and validate key assumptions supporting the long-term schedule (productivity, sequencing, resource availability, operational constraints) to help preserve the project’s strategic dates, with emphasis on start of production and other relevant intermediate milestones;
  • Prepare strategic materials and executive presentations related to planning, control, and costs for committee and decision forums, as well as record minutes and follow up on the execution of agreed actions;
  • Lead scenario planning and sensitivity analyses to support investment and prioritization decisions;
  • Support budgeting processes, periodic reviews (forecast cycles), and strategic planning;
  • Act as an integration link between the company’s technical, operational, and strategic areas, contributing to a holistic business view and decision-making aligned with organizational strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering;
  • Postgraduate specialization in Project Management and/or related fields preferred;
  • Advanced English proficiency;
  • Proven experience in planning and control of mining projects, with involvement in long-term planning and analysis of strategic schedules;
  • Technical knowledge of mining operations, including production, open pit mine development, operational infrastructure and tailings dams, to understand the interrelationships between strategic planning and project execution;
  • Ability to critically analyze schedules and performance indicators, with skills to perform projections, simulations and future scenario evaluations;
  • Experience preparing executive materials and strategic presentations to support senior management decision-making;
  • Expertise in interpreting business impacts, integrating assets and disciplines, anticipating risks to production start, and proactively communicating with stakeholders;
  • Advanced Primavera P6;
  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.);
  • Business Intelligence (Power BI).
