Project Engineering Manager overseeing multi-discipline engineering teams on complex power projects in the United States. Ideal for an engineering leader with deep technical understanding of power plant systems.
Responsibilities
Lead and supervise multi-discipline engineering teams, ensuring alignment with project scope, schedule, and budget.
Develop project work plans, engineering execution plans, and discipline-level scope definitions.
Coordinate engineering interfaces across mechanical, piping, electrical, civil/structural, I&C, and other technical groups.
Support problem resolution for complex engineering challenges, especially within simple cycle and combined cycle power plant systems, including gas turbines, HRSGs, steam cycles, balance of plant systems, and auxiliary systems.
Work with Project Management and project controls staff to develop, monitor, and maintain project schedules and budgets.
Support a robust change-management program, ensuring scope, hours, and cost impacts are accurately identified and communicated.
Monitor engineering progress, productivity, quality control, and document control; implement corrective actions or recovery plans when required.
Review project reports, schedules, and cost performance data to ensure accurate reporting and forecasting.
Support the Project Manager during client meetings and technical presentations.
May participate in contract negotiations focusing on technical delivery requirements.
Monitor and coordinate subconsultants’ performance, technical deliverables, and compliance with contract requirements.
Facilitate project meetings with clients, permitting agencies, and other external stakeholders.
Contribute to proposal efforts, including development of scope, labor estimates, assumptions, and written technical content.
Assist in identifying new business opportunities and promote the firm’s technical capabilities to existing and prospective clients.
Participate in opportunity evaluation, consultant selection, and preparation of qualifications/experience packages.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
Minimum 12 years of engineering experience, including at least two years in a senior technical or leadership role.
Significant experience in power plant design, execution, or operations is strongly preferred.
Experience developing and reviewing calculations, P&IDs, drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
Background in industrial facilities or other energy generation systems is beneficial.
Demonstrated ability to manage multi-discipline engineering teams and coordinate complex technical work.
Strong understanding of power plant thermodynamics, heat-transfer systems, fluid dynamics, and equipment selection.
Familiarity with EPC delivery models, engineering design processes, and industry standards.
Strong communication skills with the ability to represent the firm to clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
