About the role

Responsibilities

  • Own and direct a team of Electrical & ICA engineers for delivery of technical design work on complex multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Successfully manage time and budgets of the Electrical & ICA team.
  • Responsible for directing and reviewing technical deliverables such as Single Line Diagrams, Cable Block Diagrams, Load Schedules, MCC specifications, Control Philosophies, Control Network Architecture.
  • Provide technical leadership into project design deliverables for ICA aspects of complex multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Collaborate with client, operational, project, or service activities.
  • Provide direction and guidance to Senior and Principal colleagues.
  • Lead the growth of local Electrical & ICA team and the wider Electrical & ICA technical network.
  • Work independently with minimal technical guidance.
  • Exercise personal judgement to solve difficult problems.
  • Provide technical support and direction for bid proposals.
  • Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams in the UK and overseas.

Requirements

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Chartered Engineer.
  • Proven experience in leading or directing an Electrical & ICA engineering design delivery team
  • Takes broad perspective to identify innovative solutions to design problems.
  • Requires comprehensive knowledge and practical experience in ICA designs.
  • Extensive knowledge of water company design codes and standards as well as industry best practices, such as WIMES.
  • Strong awareness of HAZOP assessments, lightning strike risk assessments, earthing and bonding, lighting designs, DSEAR and ATEX installation practices.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal technical guidance.
  • Experience in water market is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in industrial and process environment is essential.
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills.
