About the role

  • Seeking an ITS/Traffic Engineer to support transportation projects in Boston, focusing on safety and operations enhancements. Collaborate with teams to deliver integrated solutions for clients across New England.

Responsibilities

  • Work on transportation projects that include Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO), and traffic engineering with a focus on improving safety and operations.
  • Work independently with appropriate senior review, while providing technical guidance to junior engineers as needed.
  • Coordinate with subject matter experts—including survey, roadway design, and environmental disciplines—to support project objectives.
  • Support project delivery by planning and overseeing small assignments or discrete components of larger projects, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget objectives are met.
  • Prepare transportation engineering plans, ITS designs, systems engineering, and traffic engineering plans, including signal designs, signing and marking designs, and conceptual designs for intersections.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of Arcadis’ services, client businesses, and the transportation industry to increase personal and company credibility in the sector.
  • Undertake training and guidance to increase knowledge in areas of technical proficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil or Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification and actively working towards Professional Engineer (PE) Certification.
  • 4 or more years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in transportation or traffic engineering.
  • Experience in operational and/or safety analysis.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • U.S. Driver’s License required.
  • Experience with signal, ITS, and/or signing and marking design (preferred).
  • Experience with public sector clients and projects (preferred).
