Responsibilities
deliver engineering and consulting services for various projects, including flood risk reduction, waterfront infrastructure resilience, dam safety, lock and navigation structure design.
conduct structural analysis, design, and engineering during construction services for climate adaptation projects, including seismic risk reduction, flood mitigation, and infrastructure resilience initiatives.
conducts structural related engineering investigations, calculations, and planning work which has a well-defined scope.
research feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions and regulatory agency specifications.
work toward development of calculations, plans, specifications, requests for proposals, and other contract documents.
work directly with a variety of engineering disciplines, office/project staff, client, and sub-contractors, throughout the project life cycle.
exercise judgment on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
function as Design Lead, Task Manager or Project Engineer on projects to manage related budgets and schedules, lead deliverables, and facilitate coordination for timely completion and submission of projects.
mentor entry-level and junior structural engineering staff.
Requirements
8 years of relevant experience.
Bachelor's degree in related discipline.
Professional Engineer (PE) registration or EIT with ability to obtain PE within 6 months of hire.
experience in designing flood walls, flood gates, retaining wall structures, and deep foundations.
experience working on resiliency projects.
A Master’s degree in Structural Engineering from a reputable institution is a plus.
progressive experience in structural engineering, particularly focusing on infrastructure projects related to water management, flood control, and seismic resilience.
Proficiency in structural analysis and design software such as STAAD, MathCAD, AutoCAD, and Revit.
Ability to write project specifications and address engineering during construction.
