About the role
- Engineering Manager leading Web Automation team at Apify. Overseeing specialized Pods providing technical solutions to customers.
Responsibilities
- You'll lead five specialized Pods (~15 engineers) in Apify Professional Services, delivering technical solutions to customers ranging from startups to Fortune 500 companies.
- You'll manage direct reports through regular 1on1s, career conversations, and growth plans, and give direct, constructive feedback that helps people grow.
- You'll drive hiring - running technical interviews, evaluating candidates, and attracting strong talent to the team.
- You'll uphold technical excellence across the pods - setting standards for delivery speed and code quality, and guiding architecture and tooling decisions together with your team leads and senior engineers.
- You'll identify gaps and introduce better practices, tools, and methodologies to elevate the team's capabilities.
- You'll partner closely with our Technical Consultants, who own customer communication and project scoping, to make sure delivery runs smoothly.
- Together with the CTO and fellow Engineering Manager, you'll help define and implement processes across the engineering organization to support its growth.
- You'll collaborate across Product, Sales, and Customer Success to keep delivery aligned with customer outcomes.
Requirements
- You have a solid technical background in Node.js / TypeScript
- You have a track record of giving feedback that helps people grow
- You have a passion for learning, continuous improvement, and supporting others
- You have strong English communication skills
- Familiarity with web scraping, browser automation, or data-extraction tooling is nice to have
- Experience scaling an engineering function through a growth phase is nice to have
