About the role

  • Intern/Co-op in Product Design Engineering preparing detailed drawings and supporting the Product Engineering team. Opportunities for onsite work with potential remote tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare clear, complete and accurate detail drawings, testing, Engineering Change Orders and Bills of Materials from rough or detailed sketches or notes provided by engineers or designers.
  • Process written Engineering Change Orders which include various 2D drafting work, Bill of Material changes, and writing of an Engineering Change Order under close direction from a designer or engineer.
  • Make 2D AutoCAD drawings, checking dimension of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure or project.
  • Make assembly and experimental drawings as required.
  • Utilize knowledge of engineering practices, mathematics, and other physical sciences to complete drawings.
  • Draw finished 2D designs from sketches supplied by a designer or engineer.
  • Use AutoCAD software Microsoft Dynamics to distribute part numbers, Engineering Change Orders, and Bill of Materials that the rest of the company utilizes in their processes.
  • Make small design changes to 3D models previously created using the Solid Works program.
  • Documentation and reporting skills to support the Product Engineering team as required.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited technical school or university studying toward an associate/bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • Must have and maintain a minimum G.P.A. of 3.00/4.0.
  • Proficient in MS Office, preferably Word and Excel.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks, Creo or Auto Desk required.
  • Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write Engineering Change Notices and business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Engineers, Designers, supervisors and peers.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
