About the role

  • Cyber Security Lead Engineer for American Family Insurance designing and maintaining network security solutions across the organization and mentoring junior team members.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining robust network security solutions across the organization
  • Overseeing the configuration and management of firewalls, endpoint protection platforms, and VPN technologies to safeguard critical assets and ensure secure connectivity
  • Leveraging software development tools to build, maintain, and update custom security controls and automation scripts, enhancing the overall security environment
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, driving security initiatives, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and organizational policies
  • Mentoring junior team members and showcasing leadership and technical excellence in cybersecurity practices

Requirements

  • Advanced understanding of network security principles, architectures, and protocols
  • Extensive experience with Palo Alto firewall technologies including design, deployment, and management
  • Experience with VPN technologies and secure remote access solutions
  • Strong grasp of threat detection, vulnerability assessment, and incident response methodologies
  • Proficiency in software development tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Ansible) for automating security tasks, developing custom controls, and integrating security solutions
  • Working knowledge of secure coding practices and application security fundamentals
  • Ability to design, implement, and optimize security solutions for complex environments
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills for resolving advanced security and network issues
  • Experience developing automation scripts and tools to streamline security operations
  • Effective leadership and mentoring skills to guide junior engineers and foster team growth
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and presenting technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with emerging threats, technologies, and best practices
  • Certifications (Preferred): CISSP, CISM or equivalent advanced certifications
  • Demonstrated experience leading security projects and initiatives
  • Strong documentation skills for maintaining records, procedures, and incident reports
