About the role
- MES Senior Systems Engineer enhancing Manufacturing Execution Systems within a global pharmaceutical environment. Ensures stable operation, compliance, and continuous improvement of MES applications and environments.
Responsibilities
- Ensure day-to-day operations and stability of MES applications and platforms.
- Execute service requests from IT teams, business users, and stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance MES processes and support quality.
- Test, document, implement, and communicate change requests related to MES applications and environments.
- Maintain and update application and system documentation.
- Coordinate and execute testing activities, ensuring proper documentation and evidence.
- Ensure GxP compliance across operations, access management, and system processes.
- Manage and coordinate application and infrastructure changes.
- Analyze system performance, capacity, and scalability, proposing improvements where needed.
- Perform security and access reviews (Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability).
- Manage configuration items and periodic system reviews.
- Oversee user access, license usage, and security controls.
- Ensure proper execution of technical operations (backup checks, restore tests, disaster recovery, patching, upgrades).
- Coordinate new demands and requirements with IT stakeholders and SMEs.
- Provide support during audits, including on-site presence when required.
- Ensure all training and compliance requirements are fulfilled.
- Support business hours operations, with occasional planned work outside standard hours.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure technologies (Windows, Linux, Citrix)
- Experience with database systems (Oracle, PostgreSQL)
- Understanding of Operational Technology (OT) environments in pharmaceutical manufacturing
- Solid experience working in structured and regulated environments (GxP)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proactive and solution-oriented mindset
- Ability to work effectively in international and cross-functional teams
- Advanced or fluent English communication skills
- Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) (preferably Körber PAS-X 3.2 or newer)
- Knowledge of MBR design and lifecycle management within MES platforms
- Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
- Hands-on experience with Docker-based deployments
- Experience with Oracle database administration or integration in manufacturing IT systems
- 3–5 years of professional experience in production IT systems or engineering environments
