Responsibilities
- Adhering to the Workers Compensation and Injury Management Act 2023, Alcoa’s self-insurance requirements, and WorkCover reporting obligations.
- Providing expert advice on workers compensation, engage with stakeholders (medical providers, unions, legal reps), and contribute to departmental meetings.
- Assessing liability, coordinating investigations and medical assessments, and negotiating settlements fairly and professionally.
- Implementing cost-minimisation strategies, monitoring trends, and delivering accurate reporting to support decision-making.
- Assisting with training initiatives and ensuring compliance with WorkCover audit requirements.
Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in a medical profession, HR, law or other relevant field would be considered desirable.
- Solid knowledge of workers compensation legislation and claims management processes.
- Experience in conciliation proceedings and working within a workers’ compensation environment.
- Strong skills in time management, confidentiality, and stakeholder engagement, with a respectful and empathetic approach.
- Proficiency in computer systems and commitment to staying updated on legislative changes and self-insurance requirements.
