About the role

  • Timber Production Auditor responsible for auditing timber production and ensuring sustainability for Alberta's forestry sector. Collaborating with field staff to guarantee compliance with legislation and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring and auditing timber production levels under timber quotas and Forest Management Agreements.
  • Ensuring sustainability of timber resources on Crown lands through rigorous auditing, compliance evaluation, and protocol development.
  • Providing critical guidance to field staff during investigations involving suspected non-compliance with forestry legislation.
  • Acting as a departmental expert in timber production monitoring and auditing aligned with core business objectives.
  • Participating in wildfire management teams to assist in protecting Alberta’s forests when required.

Requirements

  • Two-year diploma in Forest Technology, and 4 years related experience in timber production, forest management, auditing or compliance assurance.
  • Degree in Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science or a related field, and 2 years of related experience in timber production, forest management, auditing or compliance assurance.
  • Eligibility for registration as a Regulated Forestry Professional in Alberta.
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers licence.
