About the role
- Data Governance Student assisting in maintaining data catalogs and governance frameworks at AIMCo. Gaining hands-on experience in data quality and regulatory compliance through project support and collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining data catalogs and business metadata to enhance data discoverability.
- Assist with data lineage capture, validation, and visualization in the data governance tool (Atlan).
- Support metadata stewardship activities (e.g. ownership, definitions, classifications)
- Conduct data quality assessments, identify anomalies and support remediation activities.
- Track data licensing terms and usage to ensure compliance with vendor agreements.
- Organize and maintain documentation for data contracts and vendor information.
- Support the development of a market data catalog within Atlan, including building complementary dashboards to help users navigate data availability and licensing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support data governance workflows and adherence to best practices.
- Support governance initiatives and ad-hoc analysis.
Requirements
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in related field such as Computer Science, Data Management, Finance and Information Management
- Strong analytical skills and familiarity with data governance concepts
- Proven leadership, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Excel, Power BI and programming languages such as SQL or Python is an asset
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with stakeholders across different teams
