About the role
- Functional Tester ensuring software quality for high-performance public sector software in Belgium. Collaborating on methodologies, testing, and reporting issues for continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- As a Functional Tester, you will:
- Determine which types of testing need to be performed
- Set up and maintain testing frameworks
- Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases
- Estimate, prioritize, and plan quality testing activities
- Document processes within our applications
- Ensure that products meet both customer expectations and requirements
- Work closely with the development team to improve existing products
Requirements
- What you bring as a Functional Tester:
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field, or solid initial experience in software testing; ISTQB knowledge or certification is a plus
- Experience with functional testing and knowledge of non-functional testing, test automation, software defects, and tracking inconsistencies
- Strong attention to detail, a perfectionist mindset, and a structured way of working
- Ability to work with documentation to define test scenarios and create clear, structured reports for colleagues
- A proactive mindset with the ability to set priorities while keeping the bigger picture in mind (even under time pressure)
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration within the team and with clients
- Experience with automation tools such as Cypress or Playwright is a plus, as well as familiarity with the Atlassian stack (JIRA/Confluence) and test management tools like Xray
- **Fluency in Dutch and/or French,** and very good knowledge of English
- Bonus: experience in working in an Agile environment
