About the role
- Attorney providing civil legal services for Maine veterans through triage, consultations, and representation. Engaging with community organizations to assist veterans with legal needs.
Responsibilities
- Handle a variety of cases for Maine veterans, providing civil legal services ranging from triage and consultations to full legal representation
- Appear in court on a regular basis to provide representation in consumer, landlord/tenant, and benefits cases
- Provide administrative advocacy on civil legal needs
- Conduct community engagement with VA clinical and administrative staff and veteran service organizations
- Establish new relationships in areas across the state for timely referrals
Requirements
- Must be admitted to the practice of law in Maine or be eligible for licensure with the Maine Bar
- Previous litigation experience is preferred
- Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the state of Maine
