About the role

  • System Administrator at Niyam IT providing IT solutions for federal clients. Collaborating with teams to maintain and operate the EMS Web Portal while ensuring compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in IT projects, including the design and deployment of new IT systems, services, and certifications.
  • Monitor performance and security of information technology systems to make recommendations for improving the IT infrastructure.
  • Help define IT infrastructure strategy, architecture, and processes.
  • Assess vendors and develop test strategies for new hardware and software.
  • Provide daily network administration support to maintain hardware and firmware, maintain/enhance network security and troubleshooting network issues.
  • Oversee management of servers, physical and virtual environments.
  • Study and analyze the performance and capacities of the systems and peripheral equipment/systems and prepare plans for future expansion and upgrades.
  • Work with vendors in ensuring component software are up to date and in compliance.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and outages for quick remediation.
  • Ensure security through access controls, backups, and firewalls.
  • Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies.

Requirements

  • US Citizen with ability to obtain a public trust.
  • Bachelor's Degree in an IT related field.
  • 8+ years of experience with Information Technology (IT).
  • Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management.
  • Knowledge of system security (e.g., intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery.
  • Excellent working knowledge of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and phone systems.
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent project management skills and strong ability to prioritize.
  • Firm grasp of IT infrastructure and operations best practices.
  • Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms.
  • Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude.
  • Excellent communication skills.
