About the role

  • Student Worker contributing to electric vehicle development at Ford. Engage in hands-on experience with automotive body structure design and collaboration with engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute directly to the development of cutting-edge electric vehicles
  • Develop expertise in CAD design, prototyping, testing, and validation
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team of engineers and designers
  • Gain practical experience and develop skills for future careers in the automotive industry
  • Learn and apply basic CAE analysis techniques to evaluate designs
  • Research and report on alternative design solutions, materials, and manufacturing processes

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work from our Irvine, CA campus for 6 months.
  • Experience utilizing CAD software for solid and surface modeling.
  • Experience with 3DX and/or CATIA software (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals
  • Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes for body-in-white (BIW) components
