About the role

  • Stormwater Engineer leading stormwater study and design projects for Freese and Nichols. Collaborating with teams on FEMA Risk MAP studies and other engineering analyses.

Responsibilities

  • Lead stormwater study and design projects, supporting FEMA Production and Technical Services (PTS) contract
  • Complete and review hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analyses for various projects
  • Perform independent studies and prepare reports of results and conclusions
  • Direct and evaluate other engineers and technicians
  • Present and deliver final reports to clients
  • Prepare and verify design calculations, drawings, and specifications
  • Maintain knowledge of accepted engineering design standards
  • Coordinate with drafting personnel, technicians, or other engineers on technical matters
  • Ensure tasks remain within schedule and budget
  • Provide input and coordination with other departments and disciplines
  • Investigate new methods and implement new ideas or procedures

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • 6+ years’ experience with stormwater study and design projects
  • Professional Engineer Registration in North Carolina (or ability to become licensed within 1 year)
  • Experience with a basic range of hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling and design software packages including geospatial packages like ArcGIS
  • Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) preferred
  • 3+ years’ production and technical experience with FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP)
