About the role

• Senior Engineer (Supportability) ensuring operational readiness of the Royal New Zealand Navy fleet and shaping lifecycle support of marine systems. Collaborating with engineers and mentoring juniors in a purpose-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Join a team where engineering meets impact.
• Play a pivotal role in ensuring the operational readiness of the Royal New Zealand Navy fleet.
• Lead Condition Based Monitoring trials, analyse vibration and thermographic data, and provide actionable insights that directly influence maintenance strategies.
• Collaborate with skilled professionals, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
• Shape the lifecycle support of critical marine systems.

Requirements

• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
• Experience in condition monitoring techniques, with an emphasis on vibration analysis.
• Effective team collaboration
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Initiative and workload prioritisation
• Intermediate software proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Continuous improvement mindset
• Technical documentation and reporting skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering (Washington Accord accredited), or equivalent recognised engineering qualification and subsequent experience.
• Eligibility for Professional Engineer membership via recognised body
• Desirable: ISO VCAT1, TCAT1, LCAT1 or equivalent certification
• Desirable: Marine Engineering Officer Certificate Class 3 or above / Navy engineering experience
