About the role
- Senior Software Engineer designing and building backend systems for data integrations at Abnormal AI. Leading high-scale ingestion systems while ensuring reliability and performance for multiple product lines.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of robust, scalable, and secure backend systems using Golang, Python.
- Take full ownership of key deliverables within the Division’s Quarterly Roadmap.
- Ensure system SLOs/SLAs for latency, availability, throughput, and correctness.
- Provide expert technical support, troubleshoot complex issues, and participate in on-call rotations.
- Align teams around key projects, de-risk complex initiatives, and ensure seamless execution across the Division.
- Engage in asynchronous communication with team members to share updates, resolve challenges, and propose solutions.
- Actively share your knowledge with the team and participate in professional development activities.
Requirements
- 8+ years of industry experience as a Backend Software Engineer, with demonstrated impact building and operating production-grade Go and/or Python services at scale (e.g., services processing 1B+ transactions/day or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of Golang and its ecosystem, as well as Python and REST frameworks.
- Practical experience with streaming/messaging systems (Kafka / Kinesis / Pulsar) and stream processing frameworks or equivalents.
- Familiarity with AWS services and deployment practices.
- Proficiency in containerization using Docker or similar technologies.
- Solid understanding of database systems and SQL proficiency.
- Excellent system design and communication skills for cross-team collaboration.
