About the role

• Senior Physical Designer in Utility Substations working collaboratively with engineering teams. Responsible for drafting and modeling to deliver quality client deliverables.

Responsibilities

• As a Senior Physical Designer in the Utility Substations group, you will be responsible for working collaboratively with our engineering teams.
• Physical Designers are responsible for drafting and modeling in a manner that provides the client with a quality deliverable that is on time and within budget.
• Assists in detailed design of 12.47-500kV substation/switching yards for both brown field and green field sites as needed
• Read and understand basic electrical drawings including one-lines and three-lines
• Produces physical substation packages including general arrangements, foundation plans, elevations, bill of materials, conduit, grounding, lightning protection, and illumination
• Selects hardware for appropriate applications
• Works effectively as part of a team or independently with oversight
• Reviews submittals for conformance with specifications and design
• Checks the work of other designers and drafters for general quality and accuracy as required
• Maintains high ethical and professional standards within the overall organization
• Attends conferences, training workshops, seminars, and classes as appropriate for professional advancement and to maintain quality of work
• Attends safety training and follows safety rules and guidelines
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Associates degree in related field preferred
• 5 + years of drafting, design, engineering, or related experience
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office required
• A strong command of the English language
• Possesses effective written and oral communications skills
• Good interpersonal and people skills
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
