About the role

• Turbopump Mechanical Senior Engineer optimizing turbopump systems for cryogenic rocket engines at The Exploration Company. Collaborating on mechanical designs and conducting performance analyses in a hybrid work setup.

Responsibilities

• Lead the turbopump mechanical design from architecture to component design, including the maturation needs of these components
• Ensure that detailed mechanical analysis is performed on the turbopump components and assembly, reviewed and meets the required standards for life and reliability targets
• Support design iterations to turbopump assemblies and/or components, including manufacturing improvements to reduce the cost and lead time of components with the Additive Manufacturing Senior Engineer
• Develop validation/verification tools dedicated to the mechanical design and development of turbopumps
• Iterate turbopump mechanical designs using simulated and real-world test data

Requirements

• Minimum of a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or other related technical field
• Over 6 years of hands-on experience developing rotating machinery or components, from concept to working prototypes
• Experience performing turbopump analyses (structural, modal or rotordynamics)
• Knowledge of turbopump assembly procedures, including rotor balancing, interference fits, clearance checks, structural proofing, and leak checks
• Familiar with cryogenic fluids
• Proficient user of ANSYS or equivalent
• Proficient CAD user (Siemens NX is an asset)
• Fluency in English
