About the role
- Lead work package management, qualification and delivery of updates to subsystem elements of the Typhoon DASS equipment
- Provide engineering management direction and leadership supported by the Project Chief Engineer and Project Engineering Manager
- Provide team with clear expectations of Engineering Plans and ensure operation within company Policies & Procedures
- Track and report on Engineering Plans (progress, spend, risks, metrics)
- Develop the Engineering Team through mentoring, coaching, setting objectives and appraisals
- Lead and manage cross-functional development team through full product delivery lifecycle using Agile processes
- Ensure engineering activities are planned, costed and scheduled and work with stakeholders to elicit and prioritise requirements
- Oversee completion of Engineering Plans to quality, cost and schedule and control project configuration and change management
- Work with Project Chief Engineer to maximise reuse of existing resources, ensure producible and robust design solutions and certification
- Identify technical risks and mitigation strategies and ensure implementation of Lifecycle Management process
- Agree qualification & acceptance criteria and design certification and ensure compliance with Regulatory and Safety Standards
Requirements
- Proven experience in engineering management and delivery of projects
- Knowledge of Engineering lifecycle processes
- Strong leadership competencies
- Good schedule and budget control
- Ability to produce clear and concise engineering documentation
- Ability to provide clear direction to teams and communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
- Self-motivation with a strong aptitude for problem solving
- Commercial and business awareness
- Good knowledge of Electronic Warfare systems (desirable)
- Knowledge of airborne and ground-based radar systems (desirable)
- Undergraduate Engineering degree (or equivalent) or related scientific discipline (desirable)
- Subject to pre-employment screening (BPSS) and possible National Security Vetting (SC or DV)
