About the role
- Work closely with Design and Merchandising to develop products meeting quality, aesthetic, and gross margin targets
- Lead sourcing of new materials and stay aware of trends and innovations in accessories
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors/suppliers to secure best product on time
- Manage all supplier communication and ensure accuracy of internal files
- Prepare for and take part in proto meetings; judge proto samples on technical details, measurements and workmanship
- Communicate comments to vendors and anticipate feasibility of changes within timelines
- Track production progress, monitor deadlines and status
- Continuously improve products by finding innovative production techniques, new materials, yarns and leather qualities within price point
- Apply product and production know-how to realize best FOB prices
- Secure availability of samples and costs for review meetings
- Report directly into the Director Development & Production Accessories
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience working in sourcing/development/production of accessories
- Able to work in a hectic environment, with deadlines
- Solid knowledge of leathers, fabrics and fabrication
- Understanding of costing
- Experience in working with European and Far East suppliers
- Distinctive product taste level with an eye for detail
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to work independently, as well as in a team
- Flexibility, adaptability and a positive "can-do" attitude are a must
- Language: fluent in English, both verbal and written
