About the role

  • Platform Engineer driving continuous improvement and automation in Gentrack’s cloud operations team. Supporting infrastructure management and collaborating with engineering staff globally.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage your technical expertise to implement best practices, driving continuous improvement through automation and innovation.
  • Support and mentor the Platform Engineering and Operations team.
  • Foster collaboration with other teams within Gentrack and our third-party partners.
  • Manage the infrastructure of Gentrack's core products on a global scale within engineering and operational disciplines.
  • Handle escalations for troubleshooting, resolution, root cause analysis, and proactively address customer platform issues.
  • Coordinate daily stand-ups, workload planning and operational duties, alongside team members.
  • Take a hands-on role to support developing, building, and testing activities for platform architectures.
  • Create, update, and review comprehensive documentation for engineering and operations processes.
  • Conduct audits, reporting, and governance activities to uphold engineering and operations standards and compliance.
  • Identify opportunities for engineering improvements and contribute to proposals for analysis and decision-making.
  • Respond to platform incidents, conducting thorough technical investigations, resolutions, and reviews.
  • Proactively monitor and manage service health and performance to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Work UK business hours (between 8am and 6pm) to ensure close integration with UK based team members.
  • Serve within the on-call support rota, ensuring 24/7 customer platform support.
  • Engage and support internal teams, third parties, and customers through effective communication channels.
  • Participate in scheduled out-of-hours work and standby support coverage as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role as a intermediate engineer within a Systems Administrator and DevOps role delivering engineering and operations towards platform / infrastructure architecture with ISO 27001 and SOC 2 compliance.
  • Skilled and reasonably self-sufficient in the following Any Linux distribution(s). Certification is a bonus.
  • AWS using IAM, VPC, EC2 and ECS both via console and CLI. Certification is a bonus.
  • Highly skilled and mostly self-sufficient in Terraform. Certification is a bonus.
  • Moderate to highly skilled in writing Ansible playbooks to automate server provisioning.
  • Basic to moderate skills in Python scripting knowledge is advantageous.
  • Solid fundamentals in technical support, with experience in troubleshooting systems from multiple areas including virtualized compute, networking and storage.
  • Proven hands-on experience of the above points is essential.
  • Working within ITIL service management frameworks and developing process improvements.
  • Working within agile methodologies with scrum teams, sprints, and Kanban boards.
  • Using Atlassian services (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket).
  • Working within a Dev-Sec-Fin-Ops culture and practice.
