Occupational Therapist supporting mental health treatment through assessments and therapy methods in a hybrid clinical team. Delivering client-centered care as an independent contractor across various programs.
Responsibilities
Conduct efficient and effective clinical client assessments (mental health history, risk assessment, trauma, and activities of daily living).
Facilitate psychoeducation groups (based on ACT, In-Vivo Exposure, sleep education, DBT skills, mindfulness, and other psychoeducation topics).
Provide resource-based interventions, case management and coordination, transition, or discharge planning occasionally.
Assist in grounding and reflection post-psychopharmacological treatment rarely.
Participate in weekly case consultations and complex case discussions with an interdisciplinary team.
Communicate with other clinicians on a regular basis about any successes and any concerns related to client care.
Attend relevant clinical meetings, including but not limited to WorkSafe and other programs.
Ensure same-day completion of session notes.
Complete reports in a timely manner.
Provide reporting to third-parties and community referral sources.
Participate in mental health promotion activities and contribute to establishing and maintaining mental health and addictions community resources.
Requirements
A minimum of two (2) years of experience as a practicing Occupational Therapist.
A minimum of one to two (1-2) years of experience supporting clients with mental health conditions, including assessment/triage and treatment, is required.
Completed continuing education course(s) in Graded Exposure
Continuing education courses such as Behavioural Activation, CBT, Action over Inertia, ACT etc.
A minimum of two (2) years doing general Return to Work services with WorkSafeNB, WCB-NS etc.
Experience working with third-party funders is an asset.
Valid driver's license and a minimum of $2MM auto insurance.
Active registration with the New Brunswick Association of Occupational Therapists and Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists is required.
