About the role
- Litigation Counsel leading significant cases for Sher Edling’s public entity clients. Overseeing case teams and managing the litigation process with a focus on client outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Litigate and lead all aspects of significant cases, working with and guiding a case team from investigation through filing, briefing, oral argument, pre-trial discovery, trials, and resolution.
- Work effectively and efficiently with attorneys, staff, technical experts, and others to design and advance litigation strategies that prioritize client outcomes and align with the firm’s mission and goals.
- Manage all aspects of moving a case forward, including client relations, conferring with opposing counsel, and providing guidance, mentorship, and support to achieve the highest quality litigation standards while fostering the growth and development of the Sher Edling team and its practice.
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate degree and a minimum of seven years of active litigation experience.
- Exceptional legal writing, analytical and oral communication, and advocacy skills.
- Extensive experience running complex affirmative litigation, including case investigation, pre-trial discovery and motion practice, trial, and settlement negotiation.
- Willingness to travel when necessary.
- A demonstrated commitment to public service and the values underlying Sher Edling’s mission of “protecting people and the planet.”
- Ten or more years of active litigation experience (preferred).
- Experience with environmental tort litigation (preferred).
