About the role

  • Sun Life is building out its Intelligent automation capabilities, and expanding a US-based team to identify, configure, deploy and support bots and other solutions that can automate manual tasks, improve the client experience and allow our employees to focus on higher-value activities.
  • The Intelligent Automation Architect drives innovation and maximizes technology investments by designing and implementing scalable, cost-effective solutions across platforms like RPA, JIRA, Power Platform, and emerging technologies such as GenAI and IDP.
  • Reporting to the Director of Process Automation & Application Delivery, the role includes leading Proof-of-Concept initiatives, developing technology roadmaps, and providing technical documentation and support for automation solutions.
  • The Architect collaborates with product owners, development teams, and IT stakeholders to deliver impactful Intelligent automation opportunities.
  • Key focus areas include understanding data sources, ensuring seamless system integration, and fostering collaboration with architecture and application teams.
  • Additionally, the role involves coaching developers and promoting continuous improvement to unlock the full potential of organizational technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years in a Technical Architect or Solution Architect role.
  • Experience with RPA platforms, JIRA, and Microsoft Power Platform is highly desirable.
  • Deep understanding of architectural patterns, design principles, and software development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.).
  • Proven experience designing and implementing complex enterprise-level solutions.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and cloud-native architectures.
  • Strong understanding of data architecture, data modeling, and data integration techniques.
  • Experience with emerging technologies (GenAI, IDP, etc.) is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
