About the role

Responsibilities
- Build and lead a world-class engineering team based in Egypt
- Oversee a hybrid team of in-house, contract, and outsourced developers globally
- Deliver on dopay’s product roadmap across payroll, cards, Earned Wage Access, and future fintech products
- Ensure code quality, security, and regulatory compliance
- Implement scalable engineering practices, agile workflows, and QA processes
- Own system performance, infrastructure reliability, and uptime
- Drive architectural decisions that support scale, speed, and new feature delivery
- Collaborate cross-functionally to align technology with business priorities
Requirements
- 10+ years of engineering experience, including 5+ in leadership roles
- Proven experience building and scaling engineering teams, ideally from scratch
- Strong background working with distributed or hybrid teams, including external vendors
- Hands-on experience delivering secure, high-availability platforms
- Familiarity with or openness to learning our stack (Ruby on Rails is our primary backend framework) is strongly preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Fluent in English and Arabic
- Experience in fintech, SaaS, or regulated environments is preferred

- Familiarity with the Egyptian and global fintech landscape and with compliance requirements
- Experience with payroll, payments, or card infrastructure
