About the role

• Frontend Engineer developing accessible and performant applications using React and Next.js at Pelago. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to redefine travel experiences.

Responsibilities

• Develop performant, accessible, and responsive frontend applications using modern web technologies.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver user-centric solutions.
• Drive the architecture and design of frontend systems using best practices and scalable patterns.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code using TypeScript, React.js, and Next.js.
• Ensure the frontend stack meets high standards of usability, performance, security, and scalability.
• Embrace agile methodologies, contribute to sprint planning, retrospectives, and code reviews.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and advocate for their adoption where appropriate.
• Champion frontend excellence across engineering, including design systems and component libraries.
• Contribute to team knowledge sharing through discussions, code reviews, and mentoring.

Requirements

• 0 - 2 years of experience building production-grade frontend applications with React.js, Next.js and TypeScript.
• Deep familiarity with Next.js and modern frontend architecture for server-side rendering and static site generation.
• Solid understanding of Core Web Vitals and performance metrics like LCP, FID, CLS, TTFB and how they affect user experience and SEO
• Strong experience with CSS and preprocessors (e.g., SASS/SCSS).
• Experience integrating with APIs, including REST and ideally GraphQL (Apollo or similar).
• Solid understanding of accessibility, performance optimization, and responsive design.
• Proficiency with tools and processes such as Git, CI/CD pipelines, unit/integration testing, and code reviews.
• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work cross-functionally in a remote setup.
• Excellent communication skills—able to explain ideas and decisions clearly to various stakeholders.
• Experience with frontend observability tools (e.g., Sentry, LogRocket, etc.) (good to have)
• Experience working on travel platforms or B2C consumer products (good to have)
• Contributions to design systems or frontend infrastructure (good to have)
• Familiarity with headless CMS integrations or e-commerce platforms (good to have)
