Director of Software Engineering leading software development teams and modernization initiatives at Travelers. Collaborating with stakeholders to align technical strategies with business goals and ensure high-quality solution delivery.

Responsibilities

Lead a team of Software engineers by providing technical guidance and mentorship while modeling Travelers' leadership behaviors.
Direct complex design, development, analysis, configuration, testing, debugging, troubleshooting, documenting, health monitoring/alerting, and implementation based on user or system specifications for impactful and high-visibility tasks.
Lead investigation and resolution efforts for critical, high impact problems, defects, and incidents.
Seek opportunities where technology can be utilized to improve the business and provide more efficient processes.
Apply knowledge of current industry trends and techniques to formulate solutions for software engineering problems.

5 years of related experience; including insurance / financial services industry experience.
Lead and mentor a team of software engineers in the development and modernization of applications using React, Node.js, and AWS technologies.
Collaborate closely with architecture teams, circle leadership, and business stakeholders to align technical strategies with business goals.
Drive the adoption of best practices in software engineering
Ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions that meet the needs of the Compelling Offerings Value Stream and support its modernization journey.
Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets to ensure successful project delivery.
Demonstrated experience implementing current technology trends and techniques (e.g., cloud-based solutions leveraging microservices).
Interprets internal/ external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve SDLC processes.
