About the role

  • Lead a team of Software engineers by providing technical guidance and mentorship while modeling Travelers' leadership behaviors.
  • Direct complex design, development, analysis, configuration, testing, debugging, troubleshooting, documenting, health monitoring/alerting, and implementation based on user or system specifications for impactful and high-visibility tasks.
  • Lead investigation and resolution efforts for critical, high impact problems, defects, and incidents.
  • Seek opportunities where technology can be utilized to improve the business and provide more efficient processes.
  • Apply knowledge of current industry trends and techniques to formulate solutions for software engineering problems.

Requirements

  • 5 years of related experience; including insurance / financial services industry experience.
  • Lead and mentor a team of software engineers in the development and modernization of applications using React, Node.js, and AWS technologies.
  • Collaborate closely with architecture teams, circle leadership, and business stakeholders to align technical strategies with business goals.
  • Drive the adoption of best practices in software engineering
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions that meet the needs of the Compelling Offerings Value Stream and support its modernization journey.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
  • Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing current technology trends and techniques (e.g., cloud-based solutions leveraging microservices).
  • Interprets internal/ external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve SDLC processes.
