About the role
- Develop and implement robust database security protocols to protect data from unauthorized access or compromise.
- Lead security initiatives for databases across production, development, and testing environments.
- Integrate database security tools with SIEM systems to enhance real-time monitoring and incident detection.
- Manage and maintain database systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and compliance with security requirements.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering and security teams on database protection best practices.
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and audits of database environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to strengthen enterprise data security posture and respond to incidents.
- Document database configurations, policies, and procedures for compliance and operational consistency.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related field.
- 5–10 years of experience in database security, administration, or related technical roles.
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL database security configurations.
- Experience integrating database security tools with SIEM systems (e.g., Splunk, QRadar, or ArcSight).
- Proven ability to manage and secure enterprise database environments in compliance with federal standards.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

- Experience with database encryption, access control, and audit logging tools.
- Experience implementing database security frameworks aligned with NIST and FISMA standards.
- Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or database-specific credentials (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional).

- Strong understanding of DevSecOps principles and automated database security monitoring.
