About the role
- Associate Data Scientist supporting Affinity Water's transformation towards an Open Data-driven culture. Collaborating on data science projects to extract insights from complex datasets.
Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, and preprocess structured and unstructured data for analysis.
- Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) to uncover trends and patterns.
- Develop and implement statistical models and machine learning algorithms.
- Assist in deploying models into production and monitor their performance.
- Work with stakeholders to translate business challenges into analytical tasks.
- Design clear, compelling data visualisations to communicate insights effectively.
- Write well-documented, efficient Python or SQL code for data analysis.
- Stay current with industry trends, tools, and best practices in data science.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Python or R, with experience using libraries like Pandas and NumPy.
- Solid understanding of machine learning techniques and frameworks.
- Experience with SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
- Knowledge of statistical concepts such as hypothesis testing and regression analysis.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle complex datasets.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present insights to non-technical audiences.
- Experience with real-world datasets through academic projects or internships.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and version control (Git) is a plus.
