About the role

  • Android Engineer developing and optimizing smartphone and smartwatch applications for Patronus. Collaborating with Product, Design, and Engineering to enhance user experience and safety for elderly people.

Responsibilities

  • Build and improve Android apps that delight users and enhance daily lives
  • Develop for Wear OS and Android smartwatches with seamless phone–watch synchronization
  • Dive deep into the Android system layer when needed: enabling root-level features, system integrations, and custom device behaviors
  • Explore and implement OS-level modifications, such as background services, optimized system processes, or device-specific enhancements
  • Optimize for performance, battery, and UX across mobile and wearable platforms
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering to bring high-impact features to life
  • Apply best practices for testing, CI/CD, and production monitoring to ensure reliability and scalability

Requirements

  • Strong track record in Android development using Java/Kotlin
  • Experience building both smartphone apps and smartwatch/Wear OS apps
  • Hands-on experience with Android system modifications (AOSP, custom ROMs, OEM integrations, root-level access)
  • Solid understanding of low-level Android concepts like permissions models, system services, and background execution limits
  • Strong debugging and performance profiling skills — at both the app and system level
  • Nice-to-have: iOS (Swift) development experience
  • Knowledge of cross-platform frameworks (Flutter, React Native, KMP)
  • Strong sense for UX/UI design
  • Exposure to health or IoT domains
