About the role

  • Collaborate with engineers, technical experts, customer subject matter experts, and business analysts to deliver high-quality property and casualty insurance analytics solutions
  • Act as a solution architect and business analyst for the development of new reports, data pipelines, and data acquisition processes
  • Oversee integrations between financial systems and insurance platforms, ensuring the accuracy, availability, and timeliness of financial closures
  • Lead daily stand-up meetings, fostering communication and alignment within the team
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for production support triage, ensuring prompt resolution of issues
  • Maintain and prioritize a backlog of outstanding issues and projects, ensuring timely progress
  • Collaborate with leadership to prioritize new initiatives and adjust the priority of ongoing projects
  • Oversee team accountability for project management, departmental, and team status updates and reporting
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive financial reporting calendar
  • Provide after-hours support for critical situations and release escalations in collaboration with on-call engineers and production support teams
  • Recruit, hire, train, mentor, and evaluate staff to build a robust, cross-functional team
  • Prioritize and assign team members to projects
  • Provide or arrange training for direct reports, conduct performance evaluations and mentor technology staff
  • Promote a collaborative culture aligned with company values
  • Stay informed about industry trends and regulations through ongoing professional development to maintain effectiveness and compliance
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, computer science, a math-related major, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Five or more years of experience in one or more of the following: developing complex analytics solutions on Microsoft SQL Server; reading, writing, and refactoring complex SQL (structured query language) stored procedures and queries; developing complex ETL (extract, transform and load) solutions with enterprise ETL platforms (e.g. SSIS); cloud data platforms (e. g. Databricks, Azure); enterprise analytics platforms (e. g. ThoughtSpot, Logi Info); ERP (enterprise resource planning) software (e.g. Great Plains); commercial property and casualty insurance industry (e.g. Guidewire)
  • Two or more years of senior, or lead technical staff experience, which included providing guidance to others
  • Two or more years of experience using Python for data processing (including PySpark, Polars, and Pandas)
  • Skill in decision making, estimation, prioritization, organization, and time management with attention to detail to ensure tasks and deliverables are completed in an accurate and precise manner
  • Proficient in both verbal and written communication, enabling the clear presentation of complex technical information to diverse audiences; ability and commitment to maintain confidentiality
  • Skill in interpersonal interactions, with the ability to collaborate effectively with individuals at all organizational levels and with external stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Windows Server platform and other function specific applications and systems
