About the role

• AI Backend Engineer developing scalable backend services for Intelligent AP platform at 9H Digital. Focused on productionizing machine learning and integrating AI into user workflows.

Responsibilities

• Build the AI-Powered Backend: Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs that drive our Intelligent AP application, managing everything from data ingestion to user-facing results
• Productionise Machine Learning: Deploy, monitor, and scale machine learning models in a multi-tenant environment. You will build and maintain the infrastructure for model serving, inference, and automated retraining pipelines
• Bridge Models and Product: Develop the core application logic that integrates AI predictions into seamless user workflows, including intelligent exception handling and routing
• Engineer for Scale and Security: Implement robust, secure data processing systems for ingesting and structuring complex financial documents (e.g., invoices from APIs, PDFs, emails) while ensuring strict client data isolation and auditability
• Drive System Integration: Build and manage integrations with third-party ERP and financial systems, ensuring smooth data flow between 9H and our clients’ core business platforms

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field
• Fluency in English is essential
• 4+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on building and deploying production-grade backend services and APIs
• Strong proficiency in Python and experience with frameworks such as FastAPI, Pandas, and Scikit-learn
• Experience developing and productionising applications that use Large Language Models (LLMs), including prompt engineering, fine-tuning, or RAG
• Analytical and product-minded, with a drive to understand the “why” behind your work and take ownership of features from conception to deployment
• Proven experience building applications within a multi-tenant SaaS architecture is desirable
• Experience with large-scale data processing and MLOps platforms such as Databricks, Spark, and MLflow is desirable
• Experience integrating with third-party APIs, particularly for financial systems or ERPs (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) is desirable
