About the role

  • Traffic Signal Engineer delivering traffic engineering projects while ensuring compliance with UK standards. Collaborating with teams while managing project deliverables and customer relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver to a high standard a wide range of traffic engineering projects across the UK in accordance with current national/local standards, guidance and best practice
  • Deliver traffic engineering projects in accordance with ergonomic, economic and sustainable principles
  • Assessment and mitigation of risks associated with traffic engineering projects
  • Travel to site visits, validations, and customer meetings with overnight stays where appropriate
  • Preparation of technical reports and specifications
  • Technical checking/approval of traffic engineering schemes before delivery to customers
  • Preparation of consultancy/design quotations
  • Project management and financial tracking.

Requirements

  • High level of communication skills, both verbal and written and working collaboratively
  • Ability to solve complex traffic engineering problems and managing customer’s expectations
  • Ability to achieve objectives with strict deadlines and manage your own and others workload
  • To have a technical, in-depth understanding and proven track record of the following traffic engineering competencies:
  • Traffic signal design fundamentals and UK standards/specifications
  • Traffic engineering software including AutoCAD, with KeySignals, and modelling software such as LinSig or Transyt
  • In-depth knowledge of traffic signal products from across the industry
  • In-depth knowledge and proven track record using systems such as UTC or UTMC
  • In-depth knowledge and proven track record of adaptive control strategies such as SCOOT or MOVA, including experience with setup and on-site validation
  • Experience undertaking Factory and Site Acceptance Testing.
