About the role

  • Intermediate Electrical Designer supporting global clients to deliver mining projects in Canada with opportunities for flexible working arrangements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide design and technical support for the layout, design and specification of electrical systems for industrial plants and related infrastructure support for a wide variety of projects.
  • Complete Design and Drafting for Electrical packages including, but not limited to, cable tray layouts, lighting and grounding, power layouts, equipment lists, single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, 3D modelling.
  • Implement project CAD procedures and guidelines.
  • Design calculations which include voltage drop, lighting levels, cable tray fill and heat trace wattage.
  • Establish good working relationships and communicate with area leads, department managers, clients and other engineering disciplines to coordinate, ensuring the compatibility of design.
  • Attend site visits to collect data as required for projects.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an Electrical Engineering Technology program, or of a related Design / Drafting (CAD) program with relevant experience in electrical design.
  • Registered as an Applied Science Technologist (A.Sc.T.) with the applicable organization in your jurisdiction is preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years' experience in electrical design for mining, metallurgical or similar process industries.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and how to apply it in designs.
  • Proven expertise using AutoCAD and 3D design / drafting, preferably AutoCAD 3D and AVEVA E3D.
  • Everyday use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience with databases is beneficial, preferably AVEVA Electrical.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team player, but also able to work independently and take responsibility.
  • Able to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks in a highly scheduled environment.
  • Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required.
  • Experience with lighting design/calculation software for industrial facilities is beneficial, preferably DIALux and/or AGi32.
