About the role
- Advanced Respiratory Therapist providing respiratory care for neonate to geriatric populations at VCU Health. Responsibilities include education, compliance, diagnostics, and patient assessment.
Responsibilities
- Provide safe and effective respiratory care as an advanced Respiratory Therapist
- Serve as a respiratory care resource and educator for patients, caregivers, hospital staff and students
- Initiates, Monitors & Maintains Mechanical Ventilation
- Performs respiratory care assessments, interventions, teaching, and handoff
- Complies with Laws, Regulations, Policies & Procedures
- Documents equipment and patient assessments
- Performs diagnostic procedures
- Assists with labor and delivery and external critical care transports if assigned
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Education, training and/or experience that has satisfied the eligibility requirements for the National Board for Respiratory Care (or its predecessor organizations)
- Licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Respiratory Therapist required
- Current registry from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)/(*CRT) required
- Current CPR certification as required by practice setting
- Must have basic computer skills
- A working knowledge of all common critical care equipment is required
- New graduate or prior work experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist RRT/ (*CRT)
