About the role

• IT Security Engineer coordinating operational IT security with internal teams and external tests in Germany. Key responsibilities include vulnerability management and collaboration with SOC for security event monitoring.

Responsibilities

• You coordinate all matters related to operational IT security and work closely with internal business units and technical specialists.
• You are the central coordinator for our penetration tests: you plan and manage both internal and external tests, oversee follow-ups and act as the main point of contact for any inquiries.
• You own vulnerability management (e.g., using Tenable/Nessus) — from analysis through to defining and tracking appropriate remediation measures.
• As the interface to our Security Operations Center (SOC), you monitor security-relevant events and support the assessment and handling of alerts (e.g., from EDR or antivirus systems).
• You act as the central contact for operational information security and work closely with the Information Security Officer (ISB).
• Based on recognized frameworks, you develop company-wide security requirements and continuously advance operational IT security.
• You stay informed about current threats (e.g., BSI notifications) and assess their relevance to our IT environment.
• When introducing new IT systems, you contribute your security expertise and help create and maintain security concepts.

Requirements

• Degree in IT or equivalent vocational training with specialization or qualification in the IT security field
• Genuine interest and enthusiasm for operational IT security
• Professional experience in administering or hardening IT infrastructure components (e.g., servers or network devices), including knowledge of common protocols
• Experience in technical project leadership or with information security best-practice frameworks is desirable
• IT security certification is a plus (e.g., CompTIA)
