About the role
- Director of Platform Engineering at T. Rowe Price ensuring reliability and performance of technology infrastructure. Leading enterprise initiatives to migrate on-prem platforms to cloud and drive modernization strategies.
Responsibilities
- Lead enterprise initiatives to migrate platforms and applications from on-prem data centers to cloud
- Develop and execute enterprise strategy for technology platforms on-prem and migration to cloud
- Develop and lead infrastructure platform transformation/modernization supporting always-on enterprise applications and services
- Collaborate with IT stakeholders to develop, communicate, and execute multi-year technology strategy
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of technology platforms and processes that ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of services
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level objectives (SLOs) to measure and improve system reliability
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks to system reliability, including capacity planning, incident management, and disaster recovery
- Drive the adoption of automation tools and practices to enhance operational efficiency and reduce manual intervention
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree (or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience)
- 12+ years in platform engineering, cloud engineering, software development, and/or IT operations
- 10+ years of demonstrated technical leadership and team management
- 12+ years of data solution architecture, design, development and/or platform engineering experience
- Proven experience deploying / supporting cloud platforms at scale (AWS preferred)
- Proven track record of architecting modern data integration frameworks, data modeling, ETL/ELT workflows
- Established success implementing and scaling DevOps practices, tools, and frameworks (i.e. IaC, CI/CD, Agile)
- Expertise of cloud computing, distributed systems, and modern infrastructure technologies
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across teams
